Have you ever heard of a wheat penny that has the wheat on both sides? Both sides are the same and there is no date on the coin. Has there ever been a misprint of this sort?
answer of sammler.com:
Yes, such misstruck double headed coins do exist! But most of them are
fakes. The Department of Treasury writes: "It is very rare for the United States
Mint to produced double-headed coins, because coins are struck on both sides
simultaneously with two different dies of different physical dimensions. Most
double headed coins found at trade shows are novelties produced from two coins."

But if they are authentic they have a very high value!

I am doing genealogical research on my
ancestors from Greding, Bavaria. Records indicate that inheritances were paid to
the sons in “Gulden” up until about 1850. After that it changes to “fl.”, which
I am assuming is a florin. Is that correct? Are these coins silver or gold? Are
they of equivalent values? What value would they have back then? Could you
please post a picture of them? Thanks in advance for your help.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen aus St. Louis, Missouri; John
answer of sammler.com:
The Gulden was in former times a gold coin. Later it became a silver coin.
The Bavarian Gulden 1837 - 1871 was a silver coin with a weight of 10.6 g. 2
Thaler were 3 1/2 Gulden.
The Florin was in former times an english gold coin. 1849 - 1946 it was an
english silver coin. 1 Florin = 2 Two Shillings.
In Austria / Hungary also a florin silver coin was issued. It was called Forint.
I found this old coin or medal in my father's things and was
wondering if it has any worth. Thanks, Suzanne Marsh Eugene, Oregon, USA

This is a medal which was issued 1888 for the death of emperor Friedrich
III who ruled Prussia and the Second German Empire only for 100 days.
Friedrich was a liberal emperor. It was a tragedy for Germany that he ruled
Germany only for such a short time because his successor and relative young son
and imperialist Wilhelm II was one of the main responsible persons for the
beginning of World War I 26 years later.
Values of such medals: about 20 - 50 US$

I have 3 coins from, I believe, Austria. They are dated 1891, 1900, and 1912. Man on the front of all three, two of them with a "laurel crown" and one without. The coin dated 1891 has "HVNGAR.BOHEM.GAL. LOD.ILL.REX A.A.1891" with the face value marked as "1FL" Does this sound like anything??? The later dated coins do not have the same thing on the back. The one dated 1900 has "QVINQVE.CORONA" and the oned dated 1912 has "II CORONA MDCCCCXII" . Any information you could give would be appreciated.

This coin with the denomination of 1 Thaler (X Eine Feine Mark = 1 Thaler)
was issued 1768 by the South German town Nürnberg .
The Free City of Nürnberg had the right to struck coins from 1376 until
1806.
1806 Nürnberg lost its independancy and was made part of Bavaria.
IOSEPHVS II was Emperor of the States Union Holy Roman German Empire (He
was also emperor und ruler of Austria) and was so formally the head of
Nürnberg. But Nürnberg and the other German Sates within the Holy Roman German
Empire were de facto independant states.
The city which is pictured on the coin is Nürnberg, which was for a long time
German second largest city.
The "FIREWORKS" are not fireworks but this triangle symbolizes the
holy trinity (God, Jesus, The Holy Ghost).
I think your family member came at the end of world war II to Nürnberg which was occupied on 4/20/1945 by the allied forces and a lot of US American soldiers were stationed here after the war. 1946 was also in Nürnberg the famous war crimes trial.

I recently made an unqualified impulse buy of some old German coins at an
auction.
They appear to be a silver alloy, dated 1936-1939. They all have engraving on
the sides (which I can't decipher; it seems to be German language words in a
kind of Gothic printing). Four are large (about the size of a U.S. Susan B.
Anthony dollar) and show the number 5 on the back, with the words "Deutsche
Reich" and years of 1936, 1937 and 1938 (qty. 2).
Three are smaller, showing the number 2 and also "Deutsches Reich"
1938 and 1939 (qty 2). The face of all these coins show a man's picture, with
the legend "Paul von Hindenburg 1847-1934" on them. Are these worth
any serious amount of money?
Thank you in advance for any help.

THE BREAST IS A SHIELD THAT IS AN ALMOST EXACT COPY OF THE EAGLE BUT IT APPEARS TO HAVE A SPEAR IN THE LEFT TALON AND A BALL IN THE RIGHT. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFOMATION ABOUT IT'S ORGIN OR VALUE. Recently my grandfather gave me a german coin minted in 1934. On the front it has the Potsdam Garrison Church, but no dates. There is a small letter A underneath the church. On the back it has a picture of the german eagle. Above the eagle it says "deutfches reich." Beneath the eagle it says "5 Reichsmark". To the left of the eagle it has 19 with a little swastika beneath it. To the right it has 34 with another little swastika. Around the edge of the coin it says " Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz". Could you please tell me what this coin is and what its worth? if you need a picture e-mail me back and i'll take some. thanx, Steph

The commemorative version of this coin was issued 1934 for the 1st anniversary of
the Nazi Rule.
1933 when Hitler became Reichskanzler the German Parliament the Reichstag made its first
meeting after the elections of 1933 in this church with the old president Hindenburg and
the Reichskanzler Hitler. This was a symbolic meeting where Hindenburg represents the old
power of the German Second Reich under Kaiser Wilhelm II and Hitler represents the new
power of the Third Reich. This was also the end of the first German democratic system, the
Weimarer Republik and the beginning of a very cruel time in Germany and later for much
other countries which ended in war and chaos.
The commemorative issue has also two small swastikas on the front and the date of this
meeting: 21. März 1933
Your version was issued for the normal circulation.

Hi. My name is April Brown. I have a few coins that I've had for about 5 years now, from my grandma. I've looked around for the value of these coins, but no one seems to be familiar with them. The first has on the top, it looks like, a man, or soldier with a helmet with feathers on the top; what's written on it is,"BALA*RAMA*VARMA*MAHARAJA*of*TRAVANCORE". On the back, it looks like it's a sea shell of some kind; it has flowers surrounding it; what's written is,"ONE CHUCKRAM". It has something else written on it, but is in another language. It has no date or initials of anyone. My second one, on the front, has a woman, possibly Queen Elizabeth; what's written on it is,"+ELIZABETH*H*DEI*GRATIA*REGINA*F:D:". On the back is the picture of Christopher Columbus' ship; it says,"HALF PENNY" from 1967. And finally my third one on the front has the same woman from the last coin I told you about, but she looks older and she has a crown on; it says,"ELIZABETH*II D*GREG*F*D*1971". On the back, I can't tell what it is exactly, it looks like some kind of bird cage with chains hanging on both sides; it says,"NEW PENNY" on the top, and the bottom has a "1". I don't know what country they came from, and if you have any information about any of them, please let me know.
My email address is: april578@hotmail.com
Thank You, April Brown

I have three Litzmannstadt coins (1 Mark, 5 Mark and 10 Mark) that were confirmed by Stacks coin dealers in New York City as originals. They are all in f-xf condition. I am curious as to what the current purchase and selling price is in Germany for these coins. My German coin catalog (Kleiner Deutscher Münzen Katalog) lists them in value from 250 DM to 2,000 DM. Is that about right?
